Thrive 04:25
The everlasting drone of life a broken time of work and vice another day becomes the same a pointless drive of lust and fame We didn’t know, this is our show A light goes off inside my head I release I'd be better off dead I didn’t know, this is our show A silent room alone a darkened clouded throne my body’s wilted and I cannot feel the warmth inside my veins A voice speaks inside my head you cannot feel, you cannot thrive You’ll remember pain inside my life I wake up still and pray for light instead I'm here another time We didn’t wish enough for fame a pointless rise so filled of shame We didn’t know, this is our show I’m frightened of existing life I release I'd be worse off if I’m right A silent room alone A silent room alone And i cannot feel the warmth inside my veins cuz i didn’t know This is our show A silent room alone a darkened clouded throne my body’s wilted and I cannot feel the warmth inside my veins A voice speaks inside my head you cannot feel, you cannot thrive You’ll remember pain inside my life A silent room alone a darkened clouded throne my body’s wilted and I cannot feel the warmth inside my veins A voice speaks inside my head you cannot feel, you cannot thrive You’ll remember pain inside my life A silent room alone And i cannot feel the warmth inside my veins Cuz i didn’t know

Inside my soul, you’ll never reign the line Will the walls break down, and never breathe your words When I settle round, a vision, a complex set of reasons why the haunting, disperses every time And take it from me, you'll never end this pain And take it from me, you'll never end this pain And take it from me, you'll never end this pain And take it from me, you'll never end this pain Take on the form, of decent intentions Will the walls rebuild, and block your hateful words I must simmer down, a calming, a logic set of reasons why the haunting refuses subtle signs Afraid of the way, you control the same, a made up aligned, vision of time Afraid of the way, you control the same, a made up aligned, vision of time Afraid of the way, you control the same, a made up aligned, vision of time Afraid of the way, you control the same, a made up aligned, vision of time And take it from me, you'll never end this pain And take it from me, you'll never end this pain And take it from me, you'll never end this pain And take it from me, you'll never end this pain (Afraid of time) and take it from me, you'll never end this pain (Afraid of time) and take it from me, you'll never end this pain (Afraid of time) and take it from me, you'll never end this pain (Afraid of time) and take it from me, you'll never end this pain

about

Rising talent Jay Taylor (j:dead) and seasoned producer Gary Watts (Nature of Wires) first 'met' when Gary was a SubmitHub reviewer. Gary became an instant fan of j:dead's ebm/industrial style and was delighted when Jay invited him to contribute a remix of ‘Afraid’ for the physical release of the EP ‘Vision of Time’ in 2022. Fast forward several months and the pair agreed to collaborate on a new song, after they met in person at a j:dead gig in Manchester. Gary created a framework of a track, Jay added his trademark distinctive vocals and Gary built it up to a finished version.

Jay Taylor is no stranger to a collaboration, having teamed up with FabrikC, TeknoVore, Menschdefekt, Against I and Tyske Ludder. Gary also has an impressive back catalogue of collaborations and remixes (over 100), including Leaether Strip, Massive Ego, Fuzzbox, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Freakangel, Sea of Sin, Spankthenun, Projekt Ich & Madil Hardis

This new collaboration has seen the pair create a dark, bass-heavy and aggressive track, filled with vocal and instrumental hooks. Thrive deals with the drudgery of day to day life and the desperation which this creates is reflected superbly in the raw emotion of j:dead's vocals.
